i have no idea how will they look like, but i assume they’ll look like a booster box. i thought about it: you open one box and you see all the cards you get, so there’s no excitement of opening the little packs, one by one, discovering new cards in every pack. i mean, if the kilo was packed into smaller packs inside, it would give the buyer the feeling that he bought much more, because there are a lot of packs to open.

comments?

Well there’s a picture of a kilo on page 4 at the top of this page, how accurate that is or whether it’s just a mock-up I don’t know.

And I’ll admit it’s kinda therapeutic ripping open all those booster packs but I won’t miss all the wasted packaging.

When trying to cut costs, packaging inside of packaging would not be looked at as a good idea.

Besides, they are “revolutionizing” CCGs by not having boosters in the first place, but selling by the Kilo.

Maybe as time goes by they may have special ‘Grams’, or ‘Dime Bags’, you can buy that are more booster-like. Anyone who has played D’s games in the past knows how much Warren loves the boutique items.

Well, I personally would prefer a small box of boosters, because I like opening packs. But the Kilo is the NEW booster pack. It is ONE booster of 121 cards. So there probably won’t be packs inside it. (partially do to the cost of extra packaging)

As for ‘Grams” and ‘Dime Bags’, good lord I sue hope not. The term “kilo” is an acceptable measurement for MANY things, not just drugs. Tossing in ‘Grams’ and ‘Dime Bags’ puts too much emphasis on the drug reference, and is more likely to discourage people from buying Fight Klub cards rather than anything else.

Considering that you can only get Fight Klub online, we’re probably stuck with Kilos, and that’s it. We don’t need anything else.

Yea, “Dime Bag” was just to push it over the edge. :)

Grams are also an acceptable measurement, just a smaller version of a Kilo (which is an abreviation for Kilogram).

I honestly believe, if the game takes off and becomes profitable, that there will be smaller boutique packs available in the future.

I still bet we won’t get anything smaller than the Kilo. It’s part of the new CCG style they’re working with, and bringing back boosters will not help very well. The idea of 3 kilos is enough to fill a set is great! The idea of 30 grams to fill a set is not.

I bet, that if the game takes off and becomes real profitable, they won’t NEED boosters. They are going to be able to afford selling cards in kilos and nothing else. They won’t have to resort to cheap boosters of few cards.

I would assume kilos would be the sole way to buy it excluding special sets/cards like SWCCG and STCCG anthologies. I also, for the record, like the pack shown in the opening slideshow and hope they keep that design…

Anyone know how much 100 cards weighs? Is it close to a Kilo?

Avatar AlphaCenturion 2,384 post(s)

I think someone ball-parked it at closer to a 1/10th of an actual kilogram. So yeah, the name doesn’t reflect the actual weight at all.

Avatar Tam 131 post(s)

But that’s the elegance behind the name. It isn’t even close to the actual weight, true, but, like the actual kilogram, it’s THE standard size.

Avatar AlphaCenturion 2,384 post(s)

Exactly. Well put, Tam.

Just curiosity: one trading card weighs near 2 grams. So, 121 cards is something near 242 grams. Adding the box, we reach about 250 grams, or 1/4 of a kilogram. But it’s important only for the shipping calculation, I supose. =)

Except a kilogram isn’t the standard, it’s a thousand fold modification of the standard gram. And as such, makes very little sense.

Avatar Wampa_Dan 5,137 post(s)

The box they ship it in weighs about 3/4 of a kilogram. Hope that cleared things up…

well, the metric systhem’s just difficult…

I would be interested to know how the alleged cost of $ 29.99 can be paid. Only by credit card or is also PayPal possible? The price may impossible included the postage already … ? Espessially worldwide… me = from Germany

Avatar AlphaCenturion 2,384 post(s)

I think that you need a credit card to create an account (verifying that you exist, and to prevent multiple accounts by the same person), but you should still be able to actually pay for the cards with PayPal. I think. They haven’t said anything official, but that’s what we assume so far.

And I think they’ve said it’s $5 shipping for everyone worldwide. So shipping is the same for you as it is for me, and I’m only a few hours away.

Avatar chanceafs 1,091 post(s)

I’m pretty sure that decipher will make purchasing Paypal compatible (and possibly required) cause that will by far be the best way to give people they’re 10% back. Trying to cut and mail that many checks would be a pain in the arse. So paypal or some equivalent is very likely.

Avatar ChaosChild 1,342 post(s)

Well, the only things that have been mentioned by D themselves are credit cards for buying product and Paypal for receiving the 10%. They have stated that Paypal will be THE method for distributing the 10% (see the FAQ above).

Agreed, it would make sense for them to allow us to pay by Paypal as well, but they haven’t said anywhere that this is the plan.

Avatar Dodo 12 post(s)

that sounds really fine. particularly becouse of the good rate $ <-> € even 35$ (about 22€). A Booster-Pack bought in a Gaming-store or Mall cost about 4€.. :) I hope paying with PayPal will be possible, it’s not that common to pay with credit card here in Germany… and it’s hard to get, if your a low wage jobber as i am… :((singender tanzender abschaum der welt :])
