Answer from Warren: Subscriptions include three Kilos of every expansion set in the year. There are four expansions each year, one every quarter. Subscriptions also automatically include any special cards printed during the year… like all the cards in Black Beauties or any other special printing, like the foil cards I mentioned in a post above (if that program happens).

Yeah, I’m thinking that it’ll be tricky to get my wife to agree to that kind of investment right now. Probably when I’ve introduced it to a few others and I get their 10% that I can put toward a subscription, it’ll become easier.

If I have that kind of disposable money with me in the near future, I’m more likely to get an Xbox 360, or like, a really intense cosplay outfit to wear at an anime or sci-fi convention.

I agree! It sounds a great deal, however it’s a LOT to pay in one chunk. I hope that there’s option to have different length subscriptions (quarterly, half-yearly, yearly) and/or spread payments into e.g. monthly instalments or something to make it easier on the pockets of the players!

Yeah, I would MUCH rather sign up for it like an MMO, and have them take money every month. I would have no problem committing to pay that much if it wasn’t all at once. As-is, I might have to forgo getting a subscription until I can afford it (which I don’t want to do)

Id also prefer a monthly or quarterly pay schedule. Though its tempting Ill probably pass on the subscription option unless my finances improve.

If it saves me money in the end, I’m so getting a subscription. I’ll buy that much in cards anyway, so why “throw away” the money I could save? And I would so rather have one payment for the year than have to get something that resembles a monthly bill.

I’d also personally prefer a monthly or quaterly bill. I don’t have $300 just sitting around. If it comes every month or quarter then I can afford it.

dude, 300 bucks is chump-change over a year’s time. At 300 bucks, if a subscription is billed out in monthly fashion, that’s 25 bucks a month, or 12.50 from each bi-weekly paycheck. I used to spend 15 bucks a week drafting at magic and playing FNM, and i didn’t get NEARLY the amount of cards i’d get for a subscription.

The typical card-nerd can handle 25 bucks a month, and if the gameplay is solid, and the network of players is cool, most folks will probably roll with a subscription

It is a lot of money up front, but the fact that you can start saving for next year and you don’t have to worry about monthly fees really makes it the way to fo in my book. Plus the $300 is only if you do a 3 kilo a set subscription…you can sign up for less than that (or it sounds like you can).

But why would you want to do that, Ethonen, when you could have play sets!?

I’m not saying I would want to, but maybe someone would like that more.

Start saving now for the first year. And then just set some aside each month.
