This isn’t something I’ve got the skills to do myself, but if someone does, fab!

I was thinking that, once it’s all launched, someone could create a Facebook add-on that details a bit about Fight Klub and also what type of member you are (Founding Mentor, Mentor, Player, whatever else pops up!) and a link with where to go to join and something like “Tell them <username> sent you!” (so that they type in your username as the referral).

Places like Facebook are getting so huge nowadays that it seems an ideal method of getting the word out – what do the rest of you think?

I’ve never been to Facebook. What’s the major differenced between Facebook and Myspace, and could be done the same be done with Myspace (I’m guessing it would be like any other add-on application).

Facebook is more “organized” than MySpace. MySpace is for everyone. Facebook in the very least requires you to join a network (at least a regional network, but I, for example, am in both my high school and college networks, as well; there are also business networks)

I haven’t been on Myspace in a while, so I can’t say how add-ons there work.

But for Facebook, this would be a great idea! I wonder who we could contact that would help us build one… (I’ll look into that sometime this weekend)

Starblade, you get yourself a kewpie doll!

Your idea is bang on. Since facebook works on the basis that everyone knows someone else, it’s easy to send the info out en-masse and get to the people who’d be interested. Furthermore, if these people aren’t gamers or gamers-to-be, they most likely know someone who is, and the info might get to them in the long run.

Facebook also has a less “lets make everyone’s eyes bleed” colour scheme – i.e. it’s fairly neutral and non changeable!

All we need now is someone who can write the app!

Been thinking about it a bit more.

Assuming when the game goes live and the website changes that we’ll all be tagged on here as to whether we’re FMs, Mentors, Players etc… and what “gang” we’re in. Perhaps someone from decipher could create the app and allow it to access the database to link in to a player’s status?

The nearest example I can think of is the “I play WoW” app that links in with the official WoW armoury and displays your character’s level, type and any guild affiliations.

Yeah, there’s one like that for Xbox Live, too.

Hey Decipher, listen to our cries! This is like, Viral Marketing done for you! Instead of just inviting their immediate friends (real life and maybe online game clans and the like), now people can recruit absolute strangers as well!
