Can new player register on forum without choosing name of their mentor or registration is hold up to time when Founding Mentors will be choosed?

Avatar masteryoda 729 post(s)

right now D has another plan in mind. instead of taking the site off until FM’s are chosen, players are allowed in for a brief period of time without an “invite”. What will end up happening is those that are not chosen for FMentorship will be assigned to an FM near them geographically.

Once the FM’s are chosen i believe a new site will replace this one and people will only be allowed in by “invite”

Will potential players be able to “find” the FM’s and other mentors? What I mean is, will there be a way for people to track down current players if they want in? Having the geographical list available would help, but it still could be tricky.

I can just see people wandering through card shops: “I seek Altarvo—can you tell me where to find him?”

EDIT: I suppose that just knowing the handle is enough to allow access, isn’t it?

Yeah, all you need is to know the handle and the website to use it on. So if you refer 2 friends, and they tell people that YOU referred them, you could get extra referrals. (if those people use your tag and not the friend you referred that referred them)

I can so see someone walking into a game shop and saying “I’m looking for a great warrior.” Then, a small furry guy in the corner says “Altarvo, you seek Altarvo!”

Once the game goes live, members here will be assigned to FMs, and it should spiral outwards from there. But yes, should you stumble across the game on your own, Decipher should be able to point you towards a nearby mentor. (if not, those on the forums, such as people making the map, will probably help)

@alpha

So I know that we have a special place being FMs and the people we sign up will be Mentors, and the people those Mentors sign up will also be Mentors? And will we have a relationship with the students of the Mentors that are removed from us once the game is up and running? Or will our Mentor’s take our role for their students?

Take a look at this org chart and let me know if it looks accurate

FM
      Mentor Mentor Mentor
Mentor Mentor Mentor Mentor Mentor Mentor

How soon can new players “mentor” other new players? For example I spoke to 5 people and all of them joined immediately, there could be 2 different outcomes:

One outcome being that I would be the Mentor of the 5 people I spoke to.

- Mentor < 5 players

The second would be that 5 of us would “mentor” one player each.

- Mentor < 1 player < 1 player < 1 player < 1 player < 1 player

Or is there a rule on it already?

darkenfo,

Not quite correct, but close. There are generally four classifications to keep in mind:

Founding Mentors
Connectors
Mentors
Players

The new website will keep track of information automatically and display an icon for each individual indicating his or her role.

Founding Mentors are really the “first foundation” of the game. The opportunity to become an FM is now closed, and after Kendrick has approved or disapproved all the applications, the ranks of the FMs will be frozen. (There are some social and/or technical ways an FM could lose their position, but I suspect that would be very rare, so for the purposes of this discussion consider FM status as a lifetime thing.) Some Connectors will also be part of this “first foundation,” but unlike FMs, the ranks of Connectors are never closed or frozen. New Connectors can come into the process anytime in the future, however, they always have to apply, meet certain standards, and be approved.

Once we launch the new website, Founding Mentors and Connectors will be free to invite new players into the game using their unique handle. The default status of each new individual who comes to the website and creates an account is, “Player.”

Just like Founding Mentors or Connectors, Players can promote their individual handle to bring others into the game, if they want. Any Player can choose to simply remain a Player and not participate in the marketing and viral spread of the game. However, a Player always has an opportunity to market the game if they wish. The moment a new person comes to the website and creates a new account using the handle of a Player, that Player is immediately reclassified as a Mentor. The new player they bring in, obviously gets the default classification of “Player.”

Now, one of the features of the new website, is that the icon for a FM, Connector, or Mentor is appended with a number in the upper corner. This number indicates the number of new players (meaning a new player who has purchased at least one Kilo) that individual has brought into the game. Thus, around the new website, everyone will be able to see the results of everyone else’s marketing activities. It’s a status symbol to be a successful Founding Mentor, Connector, or Mentor. It’s real-time recognition for your efforts.

Now, how does this play out in the real world?

Say, you are an FM and you get a new player into the game who initially purchases one Kilo. Call him, NewGuy. You get 10% of NewGuy’s purchases for life. NewGuy starts with a default classification of “Player” and the number in your website FM icon just increased by one. You can repeat this process of bringing new players into the game as many times as you want.

Now, say that three weeks later, NewGuy gets a new player into the game. Call this new person, GalFriday. NewGuy is immediately reclassified as a Mentor (you always continue to get 10% of NewGuy’s purchases for life) and GalFriday is by default classified as a “Player.” You don’t earn 10% from GalFriday’s purchases. NewGuy does as GalFriday’s Mentor. However, NewGuy can never become a “Founding Mentor.”

There are no limits on the number of new players anyone can bring into the game. When a new player comes into Fight Klub via the activities of a “Connector,” those new players are assigned to a Founding Mentor or Mentor (most likely initially by location, but over time we may apply algorithms to such assignments based on player rankings of FMs or Mentors). In other words, as new people come into the game, we naturally want to connect them to the best FMs/Mentors and we want to reward the best FMs/Mentors with the opportunity to service the players who join Fight Klub from the activities of Connectors. The Connector earns 10% of the purchases of the new Player they refer to the website, and the FM or Mentor earns 5% of the purchases of that new Player (for being a valued counsel to the new Player).

For the most part, Decipher will not determine the best Founding Mentors or Mentors. The players will.

Everyone’s goal is to treat everyone else with respect. I mentioned this in another post, but the idea of this friendly competition between all Founding Mentors and Mentors is very much like that of being on an Olympic team. You naturally want to win the Gold, but if your teammate wins the Gold, you are really proud of them. I expect the gang memberships will play out much like countries in the Olympics. (While there can be political differences, the idea is for everyone to join together in the Olympics in friendly and respected competition.)

What this means is… not a single player joins Fight Klub without someone there to greet them, guide them, and be a support. And everyone else in the community is there to support those new players as well.

I read that, thought “Wow, excellent description”.

Then I saw “CEO, Decipher Inc.” It was like “no WONDER it was an excellent description, lol”

Anyways, it’s good to know that I understand the system. I like the idea of new players almost being forced to be drawn in by other players. It helps build the community.

My thoughts exactly, AlphaCenturion. Thank you, Mr. Holland, for the comprehensive explanation.

Avatar Wampa_Dan 5,137 post(s)

So if I’m using your Olympic analogies correctly Mr. Holland is it safe to say if someone were to pull a “Tonya Harding” that would be the social grounds for losing Founding Member status of which you speak? :p

Warren,

Thanks for that detailed clarification on how the game will play out in terms of mentor roles and their relationship to Connectors. I’m on board with your philosophy 100%. I know that I work full time so I will have a much lower number then say someone in college who has proportionally more time to market then I do, but I will still feel good as well as challenged if they are doing well and if we can do some cross marketing that share our strengths locally and keep that win/win attitude alive.

Warren is a winner. No doubt about it.
