Just going through the pages seeing as they have been modified slightly now the countdown has ended and I spotted this and wondered if anyone else had looked twice at what it said?

You will be able to participate in discussions on the forums, and within a few weeks we will give your name to a Founding Mentor near you who can invite you into the Fight Klubâ„¢ community.

Looks like Decipher will be directing people the way of FM’s to help them out.

Avatar jedi 236 post(s)

Oh poops, that means that the FM you are put under will receive the 10 % of your purchases, or am I wrong?

Avatar ShadowOperative 145 post(s)

Sounds right. So if there are 8000 of us already, 2000 will be divided up amongst the other 6000, and somebody’s going to be making money already.

great… i live in Iron Station NC, (in the middle of nowhere!!!! :)

seems like all of the whining about not getting enough friends payed off (back down, i haven’t seen ANYBODY whine) or maybe it’s an incentive on D’s part to get you hooked???

who cares…MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (or at least $3….maybe…. :)

Just seems logical to me. If they’re getting interest then it makes sense to direct them to someone local and start getting some connections made. Besides, I’d like to think that if it’s someone local then it’s gonna be someone I’d find on my own anyway.

Guys and gals,

Here’s what that means…

Now that the countdown clock for Founding Mentors is over, we will have some administrative work to do. Things like… selecting the Founding Mentors… have FMs vote on the names for the gangs… various email communications with the group of applicants, etc.

We had two options: (1) stop taking gamer information now from this website and wait until after the FMs are selected and the product launch website goes live, or (2) allow people new to this website to create an account now, and we will assign them to a FM later (depending on location or via some random method… we have not yet decided).

The second option seemed the best for everyone. New people to the website can participate now in the short term discussion (but not get the FM or Connector emails we will be sending), FMs will get those new players assigned to them (something of a little gift to get you started on the 10%), and we can continue to sign up “Connectors,” which is an ongoing process anyway.

So, yes, FMs “will get” these early players who come to this website between now and launch time. That means some of you may earn the 10% residuals from these individuals. Of course, when the next website launches, you will be able to “invite” players from anywhere in the world. It’s simply a matter of you marketing your handled (after the new website is up, of course) and being helpful to players who come into the Fight Klub community using your handle.

Avatar Mysteron 107 post(s)

Thanks for that Warren, but the implication then from your reply is that everyone who had signed up as at the end of the countdown will be made a Founding Mentor. Can you confirm this?

Avatar DecipherCEO Administrator 59 post(s)

No, of course every application to be a Founding Mentor is not being approved. That said, the quality of the applicants is very high, so the approval percentage will be way up there.

well, at least its nice to know that those of us who applied are either very good at selling ourselves, or very good at…uh….selling ourselves

Avatar drocket 40 post(s)

Im boned. At least then I can use my favorite person as my mentor. Who shall it be?

Avatar Fuzen 94 post(s)

Well, sounds like a good idea,to have some players from the get-go.

Avatar thehammer 63 post(s)

ok thats clearer now and the extra plays directed to their mentors sounds like a good idea a)mentors get a bit of a bonus straight up, b)it helps set up a mentor-player network straight away

Avatar Sweet_Stuff 1,164 post(s)

I do like the idea, it makes it easier to get started for sure. When will the new website be up? And about how many founding mentors will there be?

Avatar JPJedi 196 post(s)

Thanks Warren for the info.. I think this is only a benefit for us. Decipher is helping us get started.. But i still think we will still need to do a little leg work ourselves to get more people..

Avatar jedi 236 post(s)

If I become a FM or a Padawan, it does not matter, because I WILL HAVE THE CARD’S, Hahahahahaa,

Avatar jedi 236 post(s)

Oh, yes one more thing I was a little Board, and look at all the members signed up, and I have come to this information, I am curious because I wonder if posts are a factor in FM .

There are:

1 w/ over 300 posts
0 w/ 200 or more
10 w/ over 100 posts
10 w/ 60-100 posts
The rest are under 60

(This is subject to change)

Just food for thought!

Avatar Sweet_Stuff 1,164 post(s)

You aren’t the first to speculate, I have seen at least one person (not naming any names) that was posting junk over and over again and in one post they were wondering the same thing. BTW, cudos to Jacques for having the most posts.

Avatar Jacques 267 post(s)

I remember seeing a post about the whole activity on the board things, I think it may play a minor role, but nothing major. It shows that the person is active in the community and that is a plus since thats what FM’s are suppose to be doing, being active in the community.

I think the idea is great to get FM’s starting off. I am glad the 10% initiative is there, but its great to start building a play base. I know the majority of my 10% will be going to prizes for my players, if I am chosen to be an FM.

Also side note for ideas, since some of our players may come from other locations, not close to us, how about maybe a random draw every so often and rewarding one of those farther away players with cards as a prize from the FM?

Avatar Altarvo 718 post(s)

I’d assume that Decipher will assign players to FM’s based on location, so they probably won’t be extremely far away.

Avatar Jacques 267 post(s)

Altarvo, true initially, but I mean afterwards when it is up to us to recruit.

Avatar masteryoda 729 post(s)

@ jedi: i figured you’d say somethin like this soon. I’ve been watchin’ you go (you’ve got almost as much as me and you joined on the 24th)

on the other hand, the number of times someone hits “save reply” doesn’t mean a thing, it’s the thought, suggestions, and influence a person has on the specific topic that makes their posts meaningful

also, i doubt very much that the number of posts somebody makes has ANY influence on their “standing” or whatever, and i doubt that those who didn’t post at all will get chosen as FM’s (who knows, i may be wrong)

and yeah, Jacques does have a LOT of posts….

Avatar ShadowOperative 145 post(s)

hm… I would have to say content is more important than number of posts. And at the same time, the initial application should be strongly considered. The selection process will likely be more difficult than just ‘such and so has 120 posts.’ And I know from experience that applications sometimes tend to be overblown. I know the Decipher administration is looking at everyone closely to see who will be best at getting members hooked and who will stick with the game for a fair amount of time. The best any of us can do is to continue to be active in the threads and show that we support the launch of this game.

Aw, cripes! I meant to complete the FM survey before the timer ran out! Ah, well, no freebies for me… :-(

Avatar ShadowOperative 145 post(s)

I very nearly quit out before I finished it because of how late it was at night. Glad I went ahead and finished it, since time ran out just a few days later. There were a couple of questions that I left blank because of how extreme the choices were. Can’t remember them exactly, but I think one I didn’t answer was the ‘Would you run to answer the phone, or let someone else get it.’ I mean, I’m in no hurry to answer it, but if I’m the closest one, I’ll get it. Hope they don’t count that against me…

Avatar Cavalier 4 post(s)

1st I hope post don’t count to much as I’ve been busy and haven’t had the time to post much (This is my first post).

2nd, that Founding Mentor survey was a beast. It took me 6 hours to fill it out.

Finally as for FM selections I think that They will be looking at Population and geographical location. I don’t think they’ll choose 5000 FM in New York and LA and only leave 1000 for the rest of the country. There object is to get this started all across the country with people close by that can help new players.
