Wondering if the big D will have some sort of awards for the top Mentors? Like for whomever brings in the most players, generate the most money, run the most tournaments?
Whatever the “grading” metric they will use to judge our worthiness to continue being a mentor could also be used for awards?
This could be a quarter and a yearly award.
I really think the idea of some evaluation of the mentors will need to be done – i don’t know how many times I went to tournaments where the person running the tournament really didn’t seem to want to be there running it or didn’t know the rules to be an effective judge or impartial? I would hope that a very obvious form of feedback should be in place that the mentors and the players know about. Now that they are giving us 10%, we are now very much an employee and will need to act as such.

I agree. I think that I would be disappointed if the list of Mentors was set in stone once the 30 day sign-up and subsequent evaluation period is complete. I am also wary of Decipher putting themselves in a situation where if by 30 April only 5,500 have signed up they make everyone who has signed up a Mentor. I don’t think this would serve the best interests of the game and I seriously hope that they don’t create Mentors simply because they want to say they have got the 6,000 people they anticipated.
Mentorship should be something that is continuously evaluated and given to people on merit or at the suggestion of other Mentors. If they have such a policy for entering a Gang, I would hope they have a similarly strict guideline for becoming a Mentor.
I would rather initially see fewer Mentors than anticipated, thereby allowing good Mentors to be offered the position at a later time rather than giving it to anyone who signs up (assuming they don’t make the 6,000 quota.

Yes, I think the 6000 is a pretty aggressive starting goal (Kendrick agreed in his 20 questions post). There are about 1100 registered users on the forum right now. I’d assume that would correspond to the number of mentor applications as well, if it is even that high.

You would have to assume there are as many Mentor applications as users. However there are some things that concern me, firstly will there be any verification process to some of the questions? What if you don’t have a credit card? How are they going to determine that they have around 100 from each state and a similar number from international markets if they haven’t collected that information initially?

I imagine Kendrick is going to be making a lot of phone calls in the next month!

Just a thought, Mentor is just a term for anyone who has signed another player. If you sign someone, and then they sign someone, the person under you is a mentor as well as your…I dunno, apprentice or something. But it’s just a term, not some kind of earned status.

It’s more a designated role I think KKND – the role of expanding and developing the game. If you sign someone and then they in turn sign someone, neither of you get the 10% bonus. You don’t get it because the person wasn’t signed directly by you, and your ‘apprentice’ doesn’t get it as they are not one of the 6,000 Mentors, however I would assume that if a player is shown to be bringing in lots of players they will be granted Mentorship and thereby receive the 10% reward. That to me seems only fair, and is of course dependent on how many Mentors Decipher initially create based on the web site sign-up.

That wasn’t my understanding of it.
“The first time a new player enters the Fight Klubâ„¢ website (to be launched after the Founding Mentors are selected) using your handle, you become a Mentor and that player is linked to your account. From that point forward, you get 10% of their purchases for life. That’s why you want to tell everyone your handle.” -from Page 6.
Please note how they specifically, here and everywhere else, make a distinction between Founding Mentors, and just Mentors. So you don’t get the bonus for the second person in the aforementioned example, but your “apprentice” does, as they are the second person’s mentor, and you in turn get the 10% of anything the first person purchases. Anyone can point anyone here, anyone can get anyone in on it, it’s just that Founding Mentors have a hundfulof fairly minor perks and a bit of distinction. Hopefully some kind of label whenever we get new forums and if (when? here’s hoping) the game ever takes off.

Read pages 9 and 13 for the details: up to 6,000 Founding Mentors will be accepted from the applications submitted during the first 30-day period. (That’s why it’s important for applicants to fill out the applications completely.) Once the actual site is launched, Founding Mentors will be able to invite players into the community using their handles. These FMs have an advantage and get the jump on everyone else; their viral marketing efforts will have an enormous impact on establishing the player base and community. After that, the players invited in by FMs can become Mentors simply by bringing new players into game using their handle. (So your handle is really important because it’s your most visible marketing tool, which everyone seems to understand.) Both types of mentors (Founding and regular) will receive the 10% payment for the players they bring into the game. Founding Mentors will have status within the community because as is indicated by their name, they were in first and took responsibility for creating the foundation of the community. Hope that helps clarify somewhat.

How does one take this application? Surely there is a way to re-access it.

Here’s what they tell me about accessing the survey again. Let me know if it works or not:
Anyone who did not fill out the questionnaire the first time can log in like they would to post on the forums. Then all they have to do is go back to the “create an account” link. It will take them to the questionnaire. If they did fill it out, they cannot access it again.

All members who stay online for a couple of time and is still interested in FK, he or she should be FM and then throw away the petition for FM, cuz we are the promoters for this TCG. So being FM is really a task. Take it serious, because you’re getting paid by the percent of your proteges buyings, but don’t forget it ain’t about the money, but about the game ;)
But do appreciate the grading. See it as an recognisation award =) True FM’s would be happy.
