For networking in the business world everyone talks about that 30 second elevator speech whether it’s what your company does or what you do, you have to be prepared to quickly identify key points that will get it to click.

So as a group it makes a lot of sense to develop that 30-second Fight Klub speech that we can use before handing out our business card or offering up a way to sample the game. Anyone has any thoughts on key points based on what you’ve talked about with friends and what’s connected?

Easy to learn/teach, quick to play, and cheap to buy. Are my big ones. Sure the kilo’s are more expensive than boosters but you get a lot more bang for your buck. A full playset of Uncommons, double playset of commons, and the ability to trade and get all the rares with only 100 bucks spent is nothing to scoff at for a TCG.

And since it’s suppose to be a quick easy game with strategic depth that should be a huge selling point.

Mine generally starts something like “Imagine Ripley vs Riddick vs Mr Blonde vs Batman vs the Predator …”

think, pokemon on steroids…..

no? nobody wants to play a new card game? Ok how about.

“Do you like board games or card games? Well, I recently stumbled upon this new card game based loosly off the Fight Club movie. Basically You get to take any hero or villain and have him fight against any other hero or villain. Like Batman vs Superman!* The games take between 15 to 45 minutes, it’s real easy to learn and collect. And the best part is.. the company lets us suggest which heroes and villain to include. Here take this card and check out the web site.”

*(I use these two because they are so popular – note: I may substitute in wolverine instead of superman cause that last movie made him super lame.)

There you go, memorize it. :)

Avatar chanceafs 1,092 post(s)

... when exactly was Superman not lame?

The Batman/Superman adventures on Kids Wb…

I have been using the ol’ you like card games and you like movies angle. it’ll be easier when i have some real matchups to tantalize people with. It’d be easy to then even hook in people who just like a certain character.

Show me a game that has Cloud and Sephiroth, and I’ll show you a game I can promote with a fair degree of success.

Avatar Wampa_Dan 5,137 post(s)

Except to me, who has no clue what you are talking about… :p

Back from my time in solitude (I decided to shorten it from 40 to 20 days due to my slight impatience).

I stumbled upon this, and think it’s an awesome idea. Nice speech, BaronMorrath. And seriously, is that your real name?

Avatar Wampa_Dan 5,137 post(s)

Welcome back. Unfortunately you are out of the monastary, but welcome back anyways… :p

When you play Fight Klub you aren’t just playing a card game, but you are joining a community of players that interact personally and online. While the card game is fun and there is a lot of strategy involved, it is the community that is the best part.

nah. baron is just an alias. I am getting married right away and the Morrath came from a suggestiong of combining mine and my fiancee’s last names rather than one of us having to change our name. For the record we will both be keeping our names.
After i came up with the last name , I decided Baron would be such a sweet first name.
Now…. It’s FM Baron Morrath.. see you at the worlds :p

Avatar MarthWMaster 1,297 post(s)

@Wampa: You’re not sold on the game already? Most people in my circle I can count on to know who those two are, so I’m good. :-)

Technically the KH game already has Cloud and Sephiroth, but w/e.

Avatar Wampa_Dan 5,137 post(s)

Haha nicely played Marth. :p

Avatar rhettbutler13 1,423 post(s)

@Baron: So, why don’t you use a real Facebook profile? Props on the clever usage of you and your fiance’s last names, though.

Ie yesu do mi ne… Domine is requiem <thud>

Avatar BaronMorrath 356 post(s)

I don’t use a real facebook profile because I am careful about how much information I put out into the public on the internet.
Fears of a “big brother” kinda thing.
Basically I dont want some crazy person to steal my identity.

Add Catabre to your friends on FB. If we can go crossnetwork, which we should be able to.

Avatar Wampa_Dan 5,137 post(s)

I tried and you keep sending me insulting messages and refuse my friendship. :(

Avatar Catabre 1,836 post(s)

I would never do that!

(Actually I would. :-P)

I haven’ logged in on my account for 2 months now.

Avatar Wampa_Dan 5,137 post(s)

I don’t even have facebook. I do have a my space though… :p

Avatar Catabre 1,836 post(s)

Myspace is crap… way to insecure.

Avatar SmokeytheBear 2,679 post(s)

I know right! 14 year old girls that chat up older guys and talk about sex get raped! ...don’t even get me started.

Avatar MarthWMaster 1,297 post(s)

Sounds like you’re speaking from personal experience.

Avatar SmokeytheBear 2,679 post(s)

Not exactly… but I have been labeled a predator, or at least possibly a predator, (wrongly I can assure you.), before. And I’m very bitter about the great error in the stereotypes parents have about the whole thing. If a man were to jump from 14 year-old’s to 14 year-old’s pages, don’t you think he’d get caught pretty quick? That’s not how they do it… that’s not even how they do it on the “to catch a predator” show. The kids usually initiate it, not the other way around.

Avatar Catabre 1,836 post(s)

Thanks for the answer which summed upwhat I meant to say perfectly. :-P

Facebook is the way to go.
