I’ve always been appalled by our society’s fear/distrust of knowledge. Intelligent people are made fun of, looked down upon.
I choose to be part of The Enlightened despite the more fun choices of being a paradoxal cat (with LOLcats in tow), or a Gunslinger (as I would be all about the Roland references).
Is anyone else here enlightened?
Edit: Yes, I deleted the original thread as I feel it went way off topic.

I’m feeling Enlightened. Not sure if it’s anything more than a paradox, but still, there’s some Enlightenment going on over here.
(vague thought, wouldn’t it be fun if “The Enlightened” was a gang about pyromaniacs, whose key objective was to set fire to as many things as possible without getting in trouble for it?)

Yes. Well that’s your perogative in having started it… Though if we did that everywhere on the forums, there’d be next to nothing left…

Well, maybe this conversation will be more enlightening.

Indeed.
Here’s some food for thought (for your Enlightenment).
I learned this while attempting to solder wiring to an alligator clip. I learned that, if you apply the heat of the soldering iron to the wiring itself, the heat is converted to energy, such that both the wire and clip will heat up. I didn’t learn this until it was hot enough that I dropped it.
Oh, and solder is evil.

Hmm, indeed, I need to learn how to solder if I’m to make some of these little robots I looked up designs for… Never tried it but it’s always good to learn something new right?
I’m thinking of taking up a new profession, I’ve mastered pizza flipping, understand the logic of baking prebaked/frozen goods, know a couple dozen ways to cook eggs, currently work with troubled children, and am thinking of trying out truck driving and see the world as my step-father sees it a bit more. I could write volumes about the people I’ve met, though I couldn’t say my depictions of them would be flattering, it would be fun.

Ahh, was mixing descriptions from like 6 different jobs in there….
Jeez, does everything I say sound like the opposite of what I say?

Kinda hard to tell. Maybe you need to tell us what you’re going to say before you say it? :-)

I’m pretty sure I would be banned from joining a gang called “The Enlightened”... :p

Actually Wampa I’d be both excited and frightened to have you aboard.

Thanks, I’m still keeping my options open though (to bribes) . I’m actually somewhat interested to see what the gang formation process will be like when it starts up! So I’d hate to commit to early. Hehe I have commitment issues… :P

I can totally see Wampa as one of The Enlightened. With a wide variety of people in the gang, it would make everyone else wonder what and where the Enlightenment comes from. (whereas, if it were a small group of very similar people, whatever makes them similar would be the source of Enlightenment, like, say, me, Wampa, and Smokey, people would claim Enlightenment comes from posts alone, lol)
I wonder what kind of bribe would be required to draft Wampa into a gang…
And yeah, I get what you mean about hating to commit early. I’d hate to finally make a decision, join the gang, and regret it a week later, you know?

Yup. Which is why I’m gonna sit back and watch how the gangs form. Who joins and if they have a flavor to their gang. I’m much more likely to join a gang that develops a certain flavor to them instead of one that is just a group of members that thought the name was cool. No what i mean?

Yeah. And what flavor it is matters, too. As much as I love the idea of a Schroedinger’s Cats gang, if it becomes 100% about bad internet memes and lolcats, I might just have to join the anti-Cats campaign I hate so much. (you can’t just bypass a good chance for a science/paradox themed gang, you know? and there’s nothing wrong with lolcats on the side after that)

I’m thinking the same. I’m going to wait and see who goes where before I make a final decision on a gang.
Now you can think about whether I’m trying to be in the same gang as someone, or trying to avoid them :-)

Hmm… Good question. I wonder how much time FM’s will actually have to make a decision on it though…
Edit:(in answer to the comment below). Sigh. I hate it when that happens. And actually, this was 3 posts… I already caught the first duplicate. But the second must have slipped by me.

That does seem to be the key question. Do we have to select a gang during our initial sign up on the new site or do we get a chance to look around first?
P.S. No wonder your post count’s gone up so much if you’re posting things twice :-)

Oooo… I have a brilliant idea!
How about the first FM in a gang gets to lead it?
Wampa, I suggest you form your Wild Card gang now.

Yeah i was wondering too. Will we all as FMs have to choose immediately or will we be able to sit back and watch up to a certain amount of time? Any official word on this D? If you’re listening…

I think the gang should choose how to lead it. If they want one person leading, that’s fine. If they want a group that gets by with EVERYONE at equal status, so be it.
Last thing we need is to start having FMs fight over who does and does not get to lead a gang.

I don’t know why you’d want to lead a gang in the first place. All a leader ever gets is more responsibilities, and since it’s not an opportunity to make any money, why would you want all that pressure?
